What is a cryptid?
A Cryptid is an animal whose exsistence is unsubstantiated.
Cryptozoologists study these creatures whose existence has yet to be/cannot be proved or disproved by science.
Cryptids include, the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot, the rake, El Chupacabra, and the Yeti, yet these famous cases are not the only ones on record.
Almost every country has its own legendary mystery creature that reportedly dwells there, and their own horror stories to go along with them.
Use the following cryptid classifiers:
Unconfirmed: existence is alleged but not established.
Discredited: there is a body of evidence against its existence.
Proposed: an alternative explanation is accepted by the general scientific community.
Extinct: believed to be extinct, but cryptozoologists believe may still be in existence.
Animals no longer considered as cryptids are classified:
Confirmed: existence has now been confirmed.
Hoax: conclusively proven to be a hoax.
